Hello everyone!
It feels good to get back on the road traveling again; it’s
been a little over 11 months since we have been able to travel.
If you follow us on Facebook you already know
we have been busy being caretakers for our youngest son and Deb’s parents. We received a call while in Sturgis, SD that
our youngest son was involved in an almost fatal motorcycle accident. That was August 21, 2013 when we
received the call from UMC Hospital requesting permission to treat his
injuries. God was definitely watching
over him and had angels on the ground; everything lined up to get him the
medical assistance needed immediately.
However, we knew his determination attitude, so we really didn’t expect
anything less this time around. After a
month in the hospital, six weeks bed ridden at home, by Thanksgiving he was
walking on his own. By February he had
gotten all clear that he wasn’t going to have an additional surgery and we
started prepping for a BBQ joint to be open.
This was something that was supposed to happen in September 2013,
however the accident stopped put on hold things for a while. March 5th, 2014 “The Shack”
BBQ-Lubbock opened its doors to the public.
It’s amazing how he pushes through the pain to make his dream comes
true! Then he found out in August 2014
that “The Shack” had won two awards in “Best of Lubbock” contest… Best Ribs and
Runner-up to Best Drive-Thru. So if you
happen to get in the Lubbock, Texas area please drop by and let us know what
you think. You can also find them on
Facebook and Twitter – The Shack, BBQ-Lubbock.
Looking forward to sharing our travels once again.
Deb
