This story begins on the day we purchased our 2006 Newmar Kountry Star motorhome. As a proud owner I was returning to the campsite and driving like I knew what I was doing. As I told the insurance company our old motorhome was 29 feet so the first 29 feet made it okay, however our new coach is 39 feet so the last 10 feet took some abuse. Seems there was a pole just tall enough to take out the bottom of the basement doors and a tree limb that was long enough to hit both the upper and lower portion of the rear corner. The insurance company was very understanding and paid us a check to have the work done in Reno where we purchased the coach. However the new door that was ordered was wrong and we weren't waiting around six more weeks for the replacement to arrive. It was time to hit the road and in reality it was a blessing, because this dealers subcontract the work out to companies that only work out of a trailer in a parking lot.
Well luckily Deb grow-up with the owner of Extreme Paint & Graphics (XPG), so a call went out to James, pictures were sent and we were set to have them complete the work.
But wait; there is another part to this story. The story of the last 10 feet is not quite complete for this part of the abuse. We had another mishap due to a tight turnaround and a trailer. The trailer took out the end corner of the coach causing a very nasty looking wound. But at least I was still picking on the left side of the coach – LOL.
With all damage now complete and a lot of things on our list of what not to do we were heading to get everything repaired good as new. We arrived at XPG on a Sunday and found a 50 amp hookup. They furnish 50 amp with basic cable or a cabin for long repairs to help the full-timers survive during the repairs. James and crew were very professional and the level of service goes from minor repair (which we were to them, but did not seem minor to us) to full body paint with all types of conversions from lights, steps, fuel door, and engine doors to awnings or whatever your interests might be. If it has to do with the outside of the coach this crew can make your dreams come true!
I have to say the trip was well worth it, the quality of work was top notch without question and we were treated like part of the family. You might say that is because Deb had known James since childhood, but it was apparent all customers were treated this way. I recommend XPG for any of your needs rather it be body and paint repairs or a full custom paint and graphic…the trip is worth it! XPG has a paint booth that can hold the largest of motorhomes, where ours was the small economy model compared to others in their parking lot.
Just a few waiting to get in the shop |
Ours is in the paint booth on the right |
And these are a couple that got completed before we left ... |
This coach had the wrong shade of maroon, as it need to be Texas A&M maroon. |
Full custom paint |
With the repairs done we will settle in Lewisville, TX to complete Deb's yearly check-ups and visit with her family until after the first of the new year.
